BYM acquired 20 Union Road, Solihull in view of its strategic location adjacent to the Solihull Hospital complex as well as its vicinity to the popular Mell Square shopping area.

the brief

It was intended to convert and extend the building to create a range of studio to three-bedroom apartments suitable for the rental market. The initial design provided for 39 luxury apartments with two additional floors of penthouses.

design philosophy

BYM decided to design the building into a mix of studio to three bedroom apartments providing a range of high quality accommodation suitable for local tenants. To appeal to the market, the apartments were fully interior designed with high quality materials and integrated branded appliances. Attention was paid to creating common areas that would add appeal to the apartments with landscaped communal gardens a particular feature.
